Social Enterprise in Tasmania

There are literally hundreds of social enterprises operating within Tasmania working in a range of industries. For the past 3 years there have been a group of organisations within Tasmania working together to raise the profile of social enterprise, identify the needs and seek opportunities to support the existing social enterprise.
The aim of this site is to provide access to resources that may be of interest while promoting activities and workshops that may assist those wishing to go down the road of social enterprise or those wanting to expand what they are already doing.

Tasmanian Social Enterprise Study

This is the first study of social enterprise in the state and is a partnership between the Tasmanian Government and the University of Tasmania.

It is a stock take of activity that will provide valuable information to guide the development of the social enterprise sector in Tasmania and Nationally.

To contribute to the study please complete the survey before the closing date of 4 March and go into the draw for some great prizes. Results to be publicly available by mid 2011.

  1. Good afternoon Kylie

This is an exciting project that Tasmanian Regional Arts is keen to play our part in. I believe that the arts and cultural sector can and do make broader use of social enterprise principles and practices than is currently recognised. The significant levels of financial support though programs such as the regional arts fund suggest that some form of identification about in kind yet valued support by arts organisations and communities on arts projects (in all those grant applications) is required so that a clearer picture of the arts and social enterprise interface develops over time.
